Kombi with 2L nissan motor
Hi everyone.
Has anyone had anything to do with a 2L nissan motor conversion into a Kombi. I have come across one with a little rust for not much money. I
haven't had a look at yet (so I don't know what model motor it is) so is there anything I should be looking out for when I go and have a look.

hey steve, yer im a v8 boy through and through but i have TOTAL respect for those turbo nissan engines, i i were to do another conversion i would go
different from the crowd and get an SR20DET, my mate has one in his datsun 1600, and he is currently recorded at 275hp at the wheels,
i dont know why they are not as common as suba conversions, cos they got amazing power with the reliability to back them up,
there are heaps of nissan engines out there to choose from,
RB30T from an R31 skyline/ VL turbo
CA18T cant remember what from, think a pulsar 1.8L turbo
SR20DET out of the 180sx - this would be my choice!!!

i would personally go the rb20det or rb25det, the extra torque be better than the sr20 or ca18. the sr20 is from the later model 180sx and the 200sx
and the ca18 is from the silvia and the early 180. you can get a sr20det which is east west and has quad throttle bodies, this is from the pulsar
gtir. awesome engine. the rb30t is pretty crappy. it makes less power than the rb20det even though it has 1L more displacment. this is due to single
cam rather than the double and a really crappy top end. crap heads etc. the turbo only came in the vl the skyline r31 never came with a turbo rb30 but
changed to the rb20det for it cause it was a better engine. hope this helps. although for a bus a vg30 from the 300zx would be awesome. 3L twin turbo
v6. awesome power and torque. hope this helps
trunk monkey, because sometime getting your car back just isn't enough

the rb would be a little too long for a kombi engine bay I think you'll find. A straight 4 would be a squeeze as is. The VG might be a good
option.:thumb

the reason that subie conversions are so popular is because the subie is a brilliantly engineerd donk that basically has a flat torque curve with
heaps of it and hp to boot not to mention because its a horozontally oposed 4 its short and stout AND its owned by vw
the nissan motors are staunch and bulletproof BUT most of them are top-end screamers and a little long and or crank to sump is too deep |

i have an old L20 (nissan 2l )and 1600 box in a low light baja bus at the moment and as far as reliable goes its very very good but the torque is
pathetic low down ( but it is turning 33's) on a long run up it'll do 150 kph the bus has an extended rear hatch to accomodate the length of the
donk i did not do this conversion and i wouldnt recomend it i have a ej25t in a twin cab and there like chalk n cheese i have already ordered the
subie for the nissan bus and it'll be in soon

Hi
I thought GM owned most of Subaru. A flat 4 is nicer because its shorter than a straight 4, they also sound like VW motors.
