Couldn't tell you whether the shape of the advance curve would be correct, but you could start by checking to see what the total advance of the Magna
dissy is (in degrees). It will need to be a maximum of close to 32 deg. If it goes much further than this, then I would say that the dissy will not
be suitable.
I was surprised to see that the JE Camira (and other vehicles with the same family of engine) run around 52 deg max advance - although a VW engine
will run with this amount of advance, its definatly NOT recommended!
Perhaps a Gregorys manual (or similar) could tell you this info...

thats correct the 2.1 bosch dizzy has no mechanical or vacuum advance your ECU controls the advance

Still looking for info on machining to allow the magna dizzy to fit.
I also have a later magna dizzy with the EFI sensors and no inbuilt advance. Looking at using this for EFI eventually. Anyway the distributor body is
the same on both.
Back to the actual mod: do you lose the whole mounting tang? If so I could imagine using a vw bracket to hold it in place. Brendan what did you do?
I may have found a guy to do the machining so I'm keen to get things moving.

Toby,
I left mine on in case I wanted to try it out with the original solid state ignition unit. It did however clash with my oil pressure sender causing me
to turn it round so the sender on the tee pointed to the back of the car. I used the original VW bracket. Note that when you turn down the end of the
dizzy you have to turn down the boss of the dizzy also. I suggest getting a set of verniers and measuring off of the original distributor and make a
drawing.
