strange ignition question..not VW

Can you run 2 coils off one CDI unit?
I need a new ignition system for the jet bike. I need to spin the turbine up with a "leaf blower" to start it, so can I run a second coil off the leaf blower ignition (petrol 2 stroke) for the turbine ignitor at the same time?
The spark is only needed on the turbine untill it reaches self sustaining speed.
Motorbike guys might have the answers?
thanks

Pete, the coil is just that - basically a primary coil of wire which sets up a magnetic field which is picked up by a secondary coil to create a spark.

Any coil will have some measure of resistance internally, so adding a second (identical) coil in series will double the circuit resistance and halve the power available to each coil - probably not a good idea.

Adding a second coil in a parallel circuit will effectively halve the total resistance and draw twice as much current. This would tend to burn out points in the old ignitions, but I'm not sure how a CDI would handle it. Best bet would probably be to add an appropriate resistor to bring the circuit's resistance back up to standard. This resistor's value would be equivalent to half the coil's (one only) internal resistance on the primary circuit (low tension).

I hope I haven't got the whole thing ass about or something. Maybe someone could confirm or correct for me?
