Yes fellas, I'm still here, and boy I'm surprised as anyone! I wish I'd hung on to a few!

That book came out in 1993. We did an initial print run of 500, then another 1,000 after that and that was it. I remember taking boxes of them to Valla Park in '93 and only selling half of them - they were $24.95 when new.

Eventually they all sold; I kept one copy for myself and gave one to my folks. There's another (dog-earred) copy in the Club Veedub library - and there's another copy in Bankstown Municipal Library too.

It's WAY overdue for an update, which I'm working on in my spare time. Re-reading the original now - ooh, it's not that good. In fact much of it is quite awful - but I will fix that.

The difficulty will be the situation with my original co-writer, a difficult person to work with and with a somewhat flatulent writing style. He has retired to the north coast somewhere and i have lost track, but there may be legal problems with a new edition unless he is involved or, at least, informed. We will see. I'm working on it anyway - thanks all for your kind words.

I also have another VW book in progress - the very best VW tech, history and humour articles from Club Veedub Sydney's magazine Zeitschrift, 1985-present, in one republished edition. Who knows when that will be finished...

Phil,
Make sure you let us know when the new book comes out, I'm sure you'll get alot more takers this time round.

A couple of copies of rev2 for me please.

Just give the co-writer some royalties and tell him after its published he'll be fine ;)

:bounceNEWS FLASH!!!!
Bankstown Library was broken into last night & one book stolen-
Police said the robbery was unique in that
it was possibly the first time a VW Beetle was used in a ram raid - 116.67% of witnesses said it had Towelrail bumpers, 100% said it did not- nobody identified it as a Baja,
Police suspect it is linked to a home invasion 30 mins later at Milperra where the occupants were eventually released unharmed after one of them signed a book
