Are there many of these around?
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here but thought you might like to see some pix of my wife's old (but new again after lots of $ and time) VW Notchback
1969 modified sedan ... there a some bits and pieces I'm looking for, particularly the grub screw windscreen wiper arms but other than that she has
come up pretty well!
'Marlena' is such a pleasure to drive, never complains and is always perky and eager to please.
The tonneau cover comes off in a flash, and our faithful mechanic at Phoenix in Brisbane has it purring like a kitten.
This is a great site and I'm looking forward to exploring it fully.

nah ... my wife bought it in 1987 from a place in Brisbane but after our kids arrived etc it sat on the footpath for many years. It was originally two
tone silver but needed a lot of rust cut out so we had the new paint job at the same time.
Remarkable how well it runs again after just a bit of TLC and $.
Still looking for those wiper arms, as it very tricky to drive in the rain! I'll post some pix with the top down when I can find them on the hard
drive.

Thats one nice 1969 type 3....
interesting on the wiper arms....
1968 Beetles also used the arms with a grub screw...
the only year in Australia....
they may have been used in 65-66-67 in German beetles?
when the large glass was introduced...
I was lucky enough to find another set of those wiper arms at a swap meet last year for spares...
I didn't think I'd ever see them again....

I suppose You know the original type 3 cabriolet is in the VW Museum at Wolfsburg....
they didn't make it into production....
Anyone know if the early type 3s all had the grub screw wiper arms??
Do You mean that the arm is held onto the shaft with a grub screw??
If so that is the same as the 1968 Beetle.... but whether they are long enough for Your windscreen, I'm not sure..
maybe using the longer type 3 wiper Blades would be OK...
the late model beetle blades still fit My 68 wiper arms...
alternately, You would need to make the holes in the body larger and fit the later model wiper assembly...
[thats what I was going to do to mine]
[and thats what is needed on a beetle]
I presume the type 3 would be similar...

went to look at this last June , Lee in Wburg but they rotate vehicles and it was not there nor down the rd in the Oldtimer Centre. but i have an
e-mail connection i gave Bugboy also as he wanted to build one.
I have some spare 68 beetle arms and blades btw
also a set of Golf which may do the trick ??? etc
also arear golf wiper set up.Mk !
want any vw bits old but like me, Made in Germany!!!

those grub screw type wiper blades are crap
ive just chucked the setup like that off my 70 bug
not sure if it was original, the mount didnt line up and was held in with a cable tie :o

Thanks to everyone for the very helpful replies. We appreciate it.
I will be in contact "Bushed" re those wiper arms. Many people have been very dismissive of the grub screw type arms because I have been told they
basically snap off the spindle from the wiper motor but at this stage I think i'll give it a go.
Sinecure, yes, that mismatching tyre trim is a bit like a missing tooth in a pretty smile. I have an extra trim but had to replace a badly damaged
wheel and the old trim doesn't quite fit. A bit of character I guess
