Its Back- First Event 29th April
Well the car is back, after 9 months being off the road waiting for a new engine. I picked it up yesterday.....
So got to get 500km on it then do the 2nd oil change and tappets etc,
Then 1000km for the dual valve springs to go in......
First impressions, its a little laggy down low but once at about 2800 it goes ballistic... its currently limited to 5800 for run in (lifted to 7400
for track use). It gets towards the 5600 limit very very qucikly.
Specs are
mag case
Super lite flywheel
Stage 1 clutch
69mm crank (cw and balanced)
94 barrels and pistons
Crank offset ground to give 2000cc capacity
super race rods with chevy journals
10.8:1 CR
W120 cam with 1.25:1 rockers
CB wedge ports....
Webber 48 IDA's
009 with std coil for now.
Hopefully between now and when i leave for targa, I will at least be able to get 500km on it!! Updates to come... plus hopefully some dyno sheets
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!

Excellent combo, I think you will be happy with the performance.
What are you using for the rev limiter? MSD?

Limiter at the moment is just a rotor button from the old engine (don't want to use it though cuts in to harsh) , should get a mallory in it before
the first event hopefully.
First event is second round of the Hillcimb series. Should be 2 beetles running. Will be interesting as the other beetle is a steriod motor......
There is a autocross i think before then, but will be in tassie....

Have you really entered the Targa Tasmania? That's awsome.
A CDI ignition should help. I found it cleans up a whole lot of crap that feels like badly tuned carbs.
Have the IDAs had some progression holes added? If not that could be the cause of the laggyness. My car is a bit laggy too but I thought it had more
to do with the duration of the Engle 130.
I'm going to try starting the ignition at 10 degrees rather than 7.5 degrees and fiddle about with the jets including idles.
I ran my engine in with singles and then went to duals. The Cam and lifters looked perfect after a year of punishment.
What tappet screws are you using? My stock ones wore so I now use some Yamaha ones I can put you on to.

CT- I jsut nav for targa. Did rally tassie in a 996 Turbo S, and we only lasted the first stage....... The driver was very gun ho which is not good
for a tarmac event.
Targa iam naving in a 968, Very good mindset with this driver, so hopefully that will look good on my resume as iam trying to build it. So if you know
anybody looking for navs for any events in asutralia let me know....
Yeah i have heard the CDI will be good, just blew the money i had saved for it on a stilo SR3 for targa though, so have to save up again!!
Not sure about the progression holes.... I know i did mention it to leon... We already have the new cam sorted for the rebuild in 12 to 18months, as
leon wants to get a heap more power out of it.
Not sure on tappet screws, we did get them all nitrited though.......
Get some pics up soon...... Crank jsut in 72mm...

Dave wouldn't mind getting it out to the drags once run in. Hopefully with the tall std super diff, and the close ratio third is should be good over
the 1/8th and ok over the 1/4 (well for a 2L car anyway!!)

Well haven't hit the track yet, but th engine is run in and its going very well
Hoping to get to a club track day in early june for a shake down , before autocross in late june, and hillclimb in july.
as always thought i was readyt o go, but lots of little things came up that i should attend to, eg new battery and box. plus need some new front rims
etc etc........ Plus still only running a 009/points and coil, so mallory ignition goes in in july when i get my tax cheque back!!
PS targa was unreal, it was the best fun i ahve ever had in a car full stop. We were doing pretty well, at the end of day 2, were 19th outright all in
a 4cyl, NA car with only 176kw. Only cars faster were GT3's. Turbos' Rex's, Evo's....... doing st mary's pass, and stages like that were
unbelieveable!!!
