starter motor troubles

i have recently bought my 3rd 2L starter motor for my v8 bus since i completed the conversion...18 months... yer not happy hey seing they are $350 each time for a recon.

just wonderin if anyone else has trouble like this with conversions or beefy vw engines?

plus its not like im giving the starter good use and wearing it out fast as its driven once every 2 -3 weeks as i work away, ah well thoght id bring it up

kombi auto starter, much stronger. alternatively, try idlewild, he could probably hook you up with some sort of geared starter that they use for offroad cars.

I'm still on my first second hand 2L starter. It's been going for around 4 yrs with my 2.5L V6.

Maybe you've got some other problem. How are they dying exactly?

Is your guide bush in the bellhousing ok?
