Most of the stuff in this engine is pretty standard HiPo stuff.... Nothing out of the ordinary really.... What made this one so good is found in the heads..... They are early 1990's castings of the classic 044 design, with a semi-hemi cut, 60cc chambers, 7.5-1 comp with WBX size exhaust ports, Shimo designed Oval intake ports, 40x37.5 SS MANLEY Valves, BERG Dual Springs, BERG collets and retainers, OG Rockers with BERG Adjusters on homemade solid shafts.... The pushrods are BERG titaniums, lifters are stock VW, Cam is a standard ENGLE 120, Crank is 'off the shelf' 69mm Demello with a 9lbs FW.... Clutch is a KEP 1700lbs plate with a BERG composite spring disc.... I run a BERG style achiever pully (by Dave Stoker).... Manifolds are standard Dellorto manifolds that are match ported and the carbs are nicely jetted 40mm Dells..... Even the exhaust is nothing special.... Its a standard PHOENIX Merged Drag header with home made 'hideaway' muffler and mandrel bent pipework..... Nuthin' too special.... Just a real good combo, that makes good torque and rev's (8.5k!!!) like buggery!.... Even the ancillaries are normal shit.... 55amp Alt, offset shroud cut down to look like 36'er, OBERG oil filter, BERG pump cover and Ali body 26mm pump..... The whole box'n'dice is very well balanced and very smooth to drive... Perfect combo for a street car I reckon!

The funny thing is, it was only last night I was chatting to Dave Prior in Adelaide and he reckons I'm full of shit.... He swears that engine has a 78mm stroker in it!!!.... He reckons there's noway a 1776 has a right to be that fast! But all I can say is.... Its all in the heads Captain.... Shimo just built me the best heads for this combo.... Its a perfect match!

FUCH your early!
