What are you looking to spend?
If it's a restored one you want, you will need the big $$$ these days...

Munderwood , You could get a nice Bay for $15k or a rusty Split.
$5k doesnt even get you a rusty split these days, you might want to extend the budget a little VW 057...

i know of ones running for 10k, 5k for a rust bucket in need of hundreds of hours of work is ok. I have seen rusty ones (ute body to be fully rebuilt and chassis rails broken) go for 2k. i think some people out there want silly money for nothing but rust.
Been to the US recently, a running rat single sold in Ohio for 3.5k US. For that you get an engine, gearbox, seats and no mucking around to get it on the road.
I think 4k for a rusty non runner is reasonable.

a single cab bay just went for $3051 on ebay, it as registered till the end of the year, not much rust with spare engine and chassis.
I missed out on it by 50 bucks, i think the buyer got a bargain.
