CB Canvas roofs

Been working on making some roofs.
We are currently pulling our one apart to remake a few.
They will come with side curtains to suit original tracks and will also supply tracks with them if yours are missing but they are a little different from original tracks as the profile is not made anymore.
They also come with all the metal inserts fitted to the roofs, so the only thing needed is the hoops.
Might even look into make them later?
As for a price, sorry nothings been worked out at this stage but will keep you posted.

Nathan,
Very interesting, especially for those of us elsewhere on the globe where just seeing a CB is a WORLD CLASS EVENT.
Tops, the frames, and original design details and peculiarities are unknown to us.
Whet our appetites with more pics. Enlighten us, SVP.
Click, click, click!!!

metal straps

Steve the metal straps are stiched into a pocket at both ends of the hood.
They then have other bits that mount to them, one which hooks up to the top of the windscreen.

hi all
i picked up a country buggy a week ago ,my father spotted it 25 years ago in shed in the bush in his old work day travels and i accidently came accross it 6 months ago again by luck and i finally talked the old bloke who owned it into selling it to me ,its been in a shed for many years ,the soft top is with it ,a spare wheel/tyre ,muffler ,spare other ???vw fuel tank, accually its 100% complete except for the front bumper bar is missing and the aircleaner!
i checked the register and its on there , i found it by the ko number and i now have found the chasis number and engine no, it was orginally the beige (everywhere still),its now a lilac puple colour(outside body panels),orig wheels tyres etc
i tipped some petrol down the carb and it firred first turn ,no smoke or leaks or rattles all good ! bonus !!!
ohhh yeh , it had untill this afternoon the most ugliest mission brown full roll bars fitted which i deleted( unbolted )today!
i'll post some photo's

Just wondering if you have finished the templates for the roofs and if you have any idea what a complete softtop roof will cost.

roofs

The first roof has been finished and is being fitted up.
The person who is helping with this task has had an illness in the family which has slowed things right down.
I hope to get the ball rolling as I still need one made for my own CB as well! LOL

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about how the canvas roofs are coming along?

Summer's on the way up here and it's going to be bloody hot driving around without a roof

UPDATE:

First problem we have had is the fitting of the roofs, we have found that the buggy's are tending to vary as I guess over many years of been hammered around in paddocks etc they must twist the body to some degree.
Looking into what we can do to overcome the problem as I'd hate to send out a roof that's just not going to fit.

Might have to make it that you send measurements from certain points etc?

Also had a chance to get hold of an original rear seat.
This has been reproduced and will post pictures soon.

Nathan

Hi Nathan,

Well I need a roof so if you let me know the measurements you need, I can send you mine and you can compare them with the roof template you are doing.

Fellas,

When my roof was made by Greg Power Canvas in Toowoomba, they discovered that the Buggy wasn't square (by more than an inch). One side of the roof was 'looser' than the other.
Greg Power had to un- and re-stitch the roof to make sure the roof was taut.
They are happy to make another roof but would insist on having the buggy onsite to make sure the fit is OK.

regards

Rob

As you can see it a bit of a problem.
Still working on ideas to help make this work.
Maybe all finished except the rear bottom edge?

With a lot of time and money invested in making some roofs that could be sold at an affordable price we have decided to pull the pin so to speak.
We have checked the roof and compare a number of CB's and as a few others have found the bodies just vary too much to make a one size fits all.
We would have hated to send out a roof that was going to be 2 " to short on one side etc.
So we are now offering the metal inserts for the front and rear of the canvas tops so you can have a roof made to suit your CB.
We also have a supply of the black material and clear window material.

So Nathan do you have any made up for sale, or have you dropped the whole project?

If not, does anyone have an old roof that I could make a template off. Please send me a PM.
