Camden Charity Car Show...the show that never was....

What better way to enjoy the first break of rain in a while in Sydney than go to the Camden Charity Car Show day.

A few of us Dubbers made the early morning venture to Camden to have a cruise and a bit of a look see.

Well we got there early and to our surprise the Camden Showground was empty!! None of the townsfolk new anything about the Show not being on so we went back along the road to where a sign was displayed for the Show and sure enough we had the right day and place.

We went back to the Showgorund and waited some more and passed the time away chatting about all things VW.

People started turning up, the only problem was that they weren't the Show officials!! Members of the public arrived, single, couples, families, car enthusiests of the American vehicle genre, all dismayed and puzzled as we were.

The final laugh was when four promo cars from the local radio station turned up to do their thing and they were gobsmacked as they had been promoting the Show on the radio all morning...doh!

One of the promo guys had a contact name for the organisers, called them and was told it was postponed until 1st June. Pity no-one else knew, oh well.

Earlier we called the local Visitor's Centre and they said the Show should have started at 7am, I rang the Lions Club (sponsers) but couldn't get onto anyone. Left a message on an answering machine of one official and got a call about 5.30pm tonight to say the Show had been cancelled and that if she didn't have my phone number, how could she call me to let me know the Show wasn't on!! *sigh*

Anyway a couple of snaps form an enjoyable drive anyway :)

Whoo-Hoo!

Someone else has taken a pic of my new bus!

Shame the show wasn't on but it was good to have three buses of forum folk in the one spot on a Sunday morning....

KOM123 - the stereo install and the new panels look even better in the flesh... and the sound is excellent!

Hi

Im sorry you were stuffed around, I put that show in our club magazine and on the website in good faith. You would think that they would have the courtesy to contact all people they emailed to let them know.

No worries Steve, still enjoyed the morning drive. My biggest concern now if I was one of the organisers is will people come back again for this charity event after what happened today :(
