I don't know if this particular one is, but they were a factory item. According to "Knowing Australian Volkswagens" (Dave Long & Phil Matthews) VW Australia started making them in 1965 & they were sold for a bargain 995 pounds.They were unique in the world apart from the local German market.

if it is factory they are extremely rare as most of them led a hard life.

Someone should buy this, it would be one unique veedub

Looks like the factory ones just have a steel panel instead of glass inserted in the usual rubber seal? - If that's the case then anyone could make one. I think I prefer the finish of the custom job.

i agree, it would be nice to have an original but i like the look of the custom job..... would be better on an early model tho.
