I don't know if this particular one is, but they were a factory item. According to "Knowing Australian Volkswagens" (Dave Long & Phil Matthews)
VW Australia started making them in 1965 & they were sold for a bargain 995 pounds.They were unique in the world apart from the local German
market.

Looks like the factory ones just have a steel panel instead of glass inserted in the usual rubber seal? - If that's the case then anyone could make
one. I think I prefer the finish of the custom job.

i agree, it would be nice to have an original but i like the look of the custom job..... would be better on an early model tho.
Yeah she can go faster, but if she did you wouldn't see how good she looks.
