More Help - Clutch

My clutch is next on my problem list. It appears to not fully disengage so I can't change gear when at a stand still. I have adjusted the cable to the point where the clutch slips when going up hills and it still drags when fully depressed. I have an IRS 1600 box with splitty cluch peddle do these have problems together?

Over-extending??

I have had problems albeit with MG clutches where the swapping of parts has led to the pressure plate over extending. What's that? Imagine the thrust bearing pushing the centre of the pressure plate so far down that the centre fouls the boss-end of the friction plate & PUSHES the friction plate against the flywheel causing the engine to stay engaged with the pedal down. Is there any way you can measure the throw of the clutch lever above the tranny & compare that with a vehicle that is working ok?
A quick test is to see if you can disengage & select gears with the clutch pedal half oe two-thirds of the way down.
Good luck!!!

Check that the clutch tube (outer steel tube) has not broken away from the body.

:thumb 10 points to Old Dubber :thumb

I have just been underneath and I have just found three cracked welds along the clutch tube.

Cheers Mate
