Repair or replace???

Have a pristine 1972 Beetle that has had a run in with a Grey Roo and dinted the bonnet. I took it off and pushed out the dint but there is some stretching around the edge of the dint. Quotes were taken before I went to claim through Shannon's ranging from $550 to close on $2,000. Amazing how once insurance is mentioned the cost blows out! Do I replace the bonnet or get it fixed. Where is a good source of parts?

Any advice please? This is my first ever claim and I don't really want to do it, but do I have to bite the bullet???

Will try and get a shot showing the damage.

Had a few responses from different businesses I checked out from the forum sponsors page and I realised a few things I had wrong about the car. Meant to say 1970, not 1972. Whole vehicle is confusing with conflicting information.
Badge says 1500cc, Engine number H1220914 indicates 1600cc. VIN 1102790123 indicates August 1970 birthday, insurance papers say 1972. It is a flat screen so it can’t be a Super bug, front suspension is beam with shockers and not a spring to be seen. Do I need to measure the bonnet to ensure we are talking apples and not oranges?

Hi,
Your car is a 1970 model 1500 beetle

Engine is from a 1969 beetle H 1 220 914

H1 003 259 to H1 124 668

Chassis number 110 2790 123 is a 1970 model..
made between Aug 1969 to July 1970

So, You are the owner of a 1500 Beetle... it would have been a single port engine...

Super Beetles did have a flat windscreen in 1302S Superbugs front spare lays flat... 1971-1972

Sorry,

I didn't answer Your question....

You should replace the bonnet with a used one...

1968-1974 1976 models had the same bonnet
Non Supers... only..

cheers

Lee
