Droopy Mirror

My passenger side mirror on my 72 Kombi droops towards the floor - Which is great for parking cos I can see the kerb but not so good for driving.
I there any way of fixing it so it stays pointing in the right direction.

Does it droop at the point where it screws into the door, or at the ball joint at the back of the mirror?

If it droops at the door, you can easily tighten it. The mirror arm is screwed into the door and held tight by a large lock nut - something like 17mm or thereabouts from memory. Loosen the lock nut, move the mirror arm to the right angle, and tighten the lock nut. You will need to hold the underside nut with another spanner at the same time.

If the mirror is loose at the balljoint - hmm. No way of adjusting that. I would mix up some araldite, coat the ball joint and move the mirror two and fro to spread the glue through the joint. Then tape the mirror in the right poisition (check from your driver's seat) and let it set. You won't need to alter the mirror's position anyway - unless someone else much shorter or taller also drives your Kombi.
