Painting the turbine?
Hi everyone.
This is probably a silly question. I say that because I can't find an answer. My question is whether it is okay to paint the turbine fan?
I have a Type IV motor in my van so the fan is quite visible.
I'm trying to transform the engine bay from something eye-wateringly dank and hideous to something a bit more bearable.
I'm not worried about incurring some sort of bizarre failure from painting the unit, but I am wondering whether the airflow would just end up
stripping the paint.
Recently I had to pull out some of the tinware. While I had it out I decided to try a touch up. It worked a lot better than I expected. I actually
photographed the process too. So if anyone's interested in my cheap and cheerful rattlecan tinware cleanup just tell me and I'll do a thread on it.
If at first you don't succeed. Build, build again.

G'day mate,
Had mine powdercoated and still perfect after 6000km.
Then again powdercoat is supposed to be a lot tougher than paint.
If you prep the surface properly I can't imagine it getting stripped due to the high airflow.

Powder coating does work really well. Now you mention it I know someone that used to do a lot of it. I'll ask him about doing it. He might still have
the stuff.
I was considering doing what I did to my tinware, but I'm not at all sure about durability. Here's a sort of before and after pic. I had already
scrubbed off the fossilized layer of oil and dirt on the 'before'.
