A quick reflection
Just lookin at a few 80's dub pics and I came to a reallization. Back in the early 90s when I was first looking at dubs, the only cars I could afford
had paint like what we'd call a Rat today. But they weren't cool. You were only cool if you had a $10k paint job, a Targa-top and colour coded
bumpers.
The rat scene is really good for Vws. It gets lots of older cars back on the road without sending the owners broke or leaving unfinished projects in
garages everywhere. I don't agree with all the new mods, but I love that there are cheap, great-looking, old dubs cruising the streets again.

I agree. Sure, Ive seen a handful of gut-wrenchingly-ugly "rat VWs" (both here and overseas), but there's an aweful lot of cool ones too, many of
which could be had for 'spare change' when compared to shiny ones. Also means us poor blokes with only a daily driver can participate in runs and
shows too
