Fuel Injection - 1600 VW

I have been offered a fuel injection system for a 1600 VW engine.

Anyone had any experience with these??

Nope - not me!
I would love inj, but I'd be a little weary of being 'offered' injection - I'd be asking why!

injection

the fuel injection system for the vw is good while it is good but when the computer starts playing up it can be a pain in the neck, also hard to find another computer. i have 2 fuel injection systems lying around and are in good working order.

Not on Australian VW Beetles, there weren't.

Late US Beetles yes, but not here. Aussie-made Beetles had Solex carbs right to the end in 1976.

'76 injection

I've got a '76 Cab [US import] running standard injection, unleaded, and aircon. I've had the car for over a year, and it hasn'tmissed a beat [have I just jinxed myself?].

I've read that the injection makes the 1600 sluggish [could it be any less?], but have no problems on keeping highway speeds.....just a slug away from the lights.

Squiz.....
