Push rod tubes

Heya people.
Well heads are back on the T3 after somewhat of a mission on the cement floor of my garage.

All is good no leaks from the heads so it worked.

Problem is that i have a singular leaking push rod tube:grind:

Got too dark for me too fire it up yet so, is there a possibility that when i fire it up will seal on push rod stop leaking?
U know heat and contraction and all that. Or could it be possible that as i havent fired it up that the oil filter hasnt taken it up and it has too lieak somewhere?

Please someone tell me that is possible???

If not what are options i really dont want to take one head off just too throw in another set of new push rod tube seals.

Can i cut away the old tube?
And replace it with a singular collapseable model?
What is procedure for operation.
Drill, hacksaw, some more cursing and then what?

So it is leaking oil from a push rod tube and you haven't fired it up yet??

Yeh
Why what u thinking?

No dont tell me, ohh shit tell me. I gotta know either way i think i am stuffed.

Ok and if i am not quite stuffed, are all push rod tubes the same including collapseable.
Meaning are beetle tubes the same as bay window tubes and T3 tubes?

If it is leaking and you haven't started it I think you may have problems, like where is the oil coming from, push rod tubes should be above the oil level in the sump.

Have you over filled it with oil? Did you use new O rings? Did you give the tubes a bit of a stretch before installing them so there is a bit of pressure on the O ring?.

T3 push rod tubes are different to all others, (T4 is different to T1 as well) you can get a spring loaded one to replace a bad one from VW. to replace just take out the push rod and grab the bad tube with a pair of multi grips and mash it until it comes out.

Yeh vehicle would be overfilled with oil at present as filter hasnt taken it's share of the oil up yet.

U got me thinking and i had same thought but as above it would be overfilled with oil "at present".
But then again i will see what happens in morning and check how much oil has leaked out.

so what abot these?

or

I am hoping that i havent stuffed the job by doing it myself, friggin mechanics wanted 800+ a side. shit.
New seals at both ends of tubes and it's only 1 that is leaking.
Ahh First timers mistake in my haste i didnt stretch the tubes out, i read that bit after i installed all of them.

I did think "I wonder" And then I said I aint taking them off again if it dont work i wil scrap the bloody thing. Fu&*%^g Bargain my arse. I mean i am doing the bloody job for "NOTHING", when it has thrown me out of pocket over 700 Bucks. So if it dont work i will scrap it and take the loss.

Sometimes i wonder why i loves these possesed things.
I dont have any water/coolant leakage from heads though, so that's a good thing.

No to all those push rod tubes, they are for bug, no fit your van.

You biggest mistake is not stretching the pushrod tubes, its not the vans fault you didn't do it!!
I will say if you have one leaking now, they will all be leaking in a week after you drive it, sorry for the bad news.

I think you know what you need to do.

NO i Aint doin it......

They will stay on and i will buy a set of collapseable tubes.

I aint taking the whole bloody thing apart again.. 1st time was enough fun.

I said NO..

Got any link for tubes for a T3 then?

Other than that singular tube all is good, thought i had some dramas when i fired it up and then she konked out slowly. Apparently cars run on petrol not vapour;
Threw 11 ltrs of fuel at her and same thing happened revs dropped slowly and started sort of sputtering again. Changed around the 2 leads to the injectors, cylinder1 side and alls good.

She runs sweetly, apart from the singular bloody tube leak.

Did i say I aint doin it..
if however there was someway to remove heads without re applying gasket to heads then i would but that would mean dropping fluid and exhaust system on one side.

Oh the pain
