Seen a few at show's with type 4 motor's. A bit more involved than just bolt in, but certainly fit's in. You will need new brackets to support the motor etc.
There's not a big difference in weight between type 1/type 3 and type 4 motor's, ~20kg fully assembled from memory.

Weight aint an issue and if I can get an EJ20T to fit in like a glove then a Kombi 1800 will not trouble you. About 25kg more in the Suby motor from memory.

howdy

I have a 2L kombi motor in my Fastie.
Pretty easy fit, the motor bolted right up to the auto, we used the kombi engine mount cut to size then made mounts to fit where the type 3 engine mount where, then make a adaptor for the bellows for the cold air.

we put coilover shockies on the rear and all has been good for over 3 years

hope this helps

Gotta use the 1800 (215) flywheel with spigot bush moved out of crank into flywheel ( needs to be machined) other than rear crossmember mods pretty straight forward. Dont expect a massive increase in power from a stock 1800 over twin carb 1600 dp. Did the conversion had it in for a while then went to ej20t and halved the fuel bill but more than doubled the power . and breakages .

Yeah right. Was hoping for a much better power increase, but maybe not....

With the type 4 engine i am building using a 66 x96 combo i should have 130flywheel hp. Build em right and youll have enough power.
