Kombi box ?
I'm toying with the idea of going subaru in my buggy.
Will a kombi box stand up to a wrx 2.0 turbo motor? I dont want to do burnouts or thrash it, but I'm after something that I don't have to completly
baby.
Does the kombi box fit in the beetle without much surgery?

A kombi box will handle the bower if you don;t drive stupid. Kind of like putting a Lexus V8 in a Suzi.....
the 091 Box is the best fit and strength out of what you have as easy options and it fits in without to many issues. Does your buggy have a lift kit ?
If not with the body you have you may have to clearance the glass a little at the back as the kombi box sits higher. Custom Vee Dub ( http://www.customveedub.com.au ) do a kombi transmission kit which ie very good and
has a front and rear strap included. I have one of their kits in my Buggy which is running an EJ 22 and it works sweet. I also had one in my Baja
which was running an EJ20T and it was fine. I blew a few box's though with the 33" rear tyres and weight which was closser to a tonne.
Wes is running a kombi box with his V6 and no issues to date, it all comes back to how you drive.

these mounts are great and mean that you can use the stock shifter shaft rather than running a shift rod along the top of the tunnel

So the Custom vee dub kombi box kit has the shifter running outside the tunnel? That doesn't sound good.
The pitstop mount lookls like it has an adapter for the shifter on the front?
This is all I need?
Pitstop had some other goodies that looked pretty nifty
This looks like a better clutch setup;

Isn't the other bit to the kit just the front gearbox mount? Not sure how it will be any different to mounts provided locally?
The kombi box gear selector is a couple of inches higher than the beetle one, so with mine, i just weld two selector to rod coupling's together. It
sticks out of the rear inspection cover, but you can just make a new cover to go over the top. This is BlueV2's setup..

In some ways a late type 3 is easier as the tranny hangs from the body and doesn't have to clear the horns like in a beetle. However, you could
probable do with extra bracing.
Like this sort of thing would be good
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=64482&page=1#pid607647
Everything else is a really a custom bracket setup I'm afraid. You'll have to make it up yourself. Not very hard, but there you go. Nothing straight
off the shelf. Sorry.
