Hello

Hello all.

Been browsing this forum for a little while now and thought it might be nice to actually get an account and maybe participate a little. I live around the Lake Macquarie area. Im a second year panelbeating apprentice and i work in a shop restoring vintage porsches, 356's mainly.

I bought a 1969 beetle last november from a guy in gosford with rotted out floors and sills. Since then ive put in some time and money in replacing the floors and the sills. Painted them up all nice in black stoneguard. Done bits of patching here fixing this and that. Motor is running nicely now. Gonna buy a baja kit when i get some money and play around with that. I spend all day around cars and doing stuff to my vw is still fun.

Anyway thats my ramble of horrible english skills. So yeah, hi.

Hi
and welcome

many people would love to work on 356 Porsches...

I was reading recently that 356 bodies were actually made by Karmann.. along with 912s..

I thought You would have bought a VW without any major rust problems...
seeing You do it at work... lol

cheers

would have loved to buy one without any rust but apprentices don't make too much money  ive learnt alot so far and loved it. the more i learn though the more i come to realise how much more there is to learn. vw and porsche have a nice history together. it makes me smile when im degreasing bits of the 356's stock front suspension and you see the vw stamp. machined differntly though so not exactly the same or interchangable.
