Fuel Sendor Unit.
My Fuel level sendor unit appears to be a worn.
I removed it from the tank and inspected the variable resistor which shows definate signs of aging, on the reostat where the sweaping arm moves.
Does anybody know what the resistance of the reostate, as I thought I might just rewire it with resistive wire?
Alternatively are there any suggestions with regards to suitable replacement, and if there are any improvements other than the orignal floating
arm/resistor device.
Cheers,

you should be able to test using a multi meter bending the arms may help with the contacts

Fuel Sendor Unit.
I've put a little bit more pressure on the contact however it's still not reliable.
However the main concern here is that within the petrol tank there is an open electrical contact sweaping an open resistor.
What is preventing a spark caused by a gap between the contact and resitor, igniting petrol vapours within the tank?
I personnally would feel better with an alternative type of messuring device.

the wire is shortened each time the arm moves tehres no sparkie growlie stuff in there same as all fuel tank sensors
when the wire is shortened is has a differnt resistance from say when its empty the wire is 4 meters long and has X as the resistance when its
half full its only 2 meters long so it has a diffent resisitance and registers different on the gauge
