Done anything stupid today
Well I'd sanded and polished and painted a gennie for Bel (thought I'd do a nice detailing job)
Looked at the regulator cover this morning before work and noticed one side didn't have good paint cover on it. The regulator was on the gennie
and all was ready to go into Bel. Hmmm, I thought, wrap paper over the cleaned back metal on the cylinder, should be right, spray some paint
on...........
Well tonight I took the regulator apart and cleaned the legs on it that got painted and the screw heads, and sanded the squirts of paint off of the
cylinder. Decided the fan cover was dodge so took it back to metal again and repainted. Somehow I've become some crazed perfectionist:o
All I need to do now is get that damn nut off the generator shaft which holds the pulleys on Na, have someone coming tomorrow to help
Hmmm, learning. Thick cord, thin cord D+, Df, for regulator. Could I blow something up if I'd got it wrong. Manuals are very handy

yep, last night I adjusted the tappets out in the lane 'cause it wasn't actually raining, 11.30pm thought I would do that "one more
simple thing" change the incorrect pilot jet sitting on one of the carbies for the correct solenoid operated one, simple,:cry by 12.30am it still
wasn't simple & not running right, by 1am it was back to where I started. "one more little thing" late at night can be the ultimate
disaster when the vehicle has to go to work at 7am |

Bad news Kombikim. It's amazing how frustrating things get that late at night. Been there too often myself!!
Sounds like it's going again though.

yep it ended up fine again there was (is) a fixed 060 pilot jet in there so I replaced it with the correct 55 solenoid jet which was clicking ok but
no amount of fiddling with the initial idle screw would make it run on 4 cyl, have to have a look in daylight, was quite a bit of work to get initial
idle screw right again when I put the dodgy jet back in |

Not personally, but a friend last fri nite was trying to get her new engine running for the weekend, at 1130pm she worked out she had lost her kill
switch key, once a replacement had been located(waking me), started the new engine to remember that there was no oil and that they had run out. so
located oil at 1230 at nite. got it running. |

getting it wrong would not be good. My simple trick for wiring or hoses (even when you have the diagram) is to wrap masking tape around anything you
take off and mark where it came from. just mark them 1, 2, 3, or a, b, c. That way you can put things back without thinking. A good thing if you have
a memory like mine.

Forgot to ask husband to put the soft top back on my Bug last night. It rained today and I couldn't drive it
There has to be a trick to those annoying tops! I can't get the dern thing to clip up right at the back in the middle. Either there's a
trick or I need stronger hands... |

For the third morning this week , I got up got dressed and walked straight passed a perfectly good Oval, got into my late model company trolley and
drove to work.
Were what I should have done is jumped in that oval, skipped work and cruised around all day.

Wasted all evening responding to and fretting about a legal threat against this forum which I can do precious little about, when I should have made
some dinner, and settled down to watch The Bill and Buffy from last night.
