In this ones case...rust LOL.The "body" does not seperate from the "floor" as per a beetle etc. They are a monocoque (sp) design.

And an Eberspacer petrol heater as standard!
From the rear they remind me of a Morris Marina, and that just erm gives me a sick feeling in my stomach.

Wouldn't mind the Ronals on it though!
They do look well less ugly with Porsche wheels and brakes on though:-

Cheers
Steve

The type 4 just looks too much like a Renault for my liking.
If you can't fix it with a hammer,

At $500 i reckon you would buy it for spares and get the NZ one at $5,000 NZ or about $4,000 AUS
You aint going to do rust repairs and respray for the NZ price even with shipping

I've always had a soft spot for the 4 door type 4s
although I prefer the 412 looks really...
I think these may have been copied by Renault...
the type 4 engine originated in these vehicles
they were never sold in Australia because of the high cost..
they were sold in New Guinea and New Zealand
I did see a few of these back in the early 70s
in Newcastle...
4 door luxury car....

agree with mickH, the LSD and eberspacher are not standard, all options. Those wheels I think are from a fiat. the 411 has the 1700(slow type 4) the
one to get your hand on is one of the last 412's from 73/74 with Carburettors(412LS) - this is the firecracker with twin 40 solexes, domed pistons
and 85hp (yes, more than the 2 litre kombi which is at 75hp) from the factory and also outpowers the LE(injected).

Which books have you been reading?
1700 had 80HP from august 1970.
2L in 914 guise had ~100hp.
So who bought this one?
