either no oil, not good jan. or the wire has grounded to the chassis and shorting out, a little bit happier jan. did the motor turn over when it stopped, or was it a bit tight? you've probably found out from your mechanic by now eh!

Little round red light = generator light

Bigger red light = semaphores

Little round green light = oil pressure.

Only an electrical prob so probably no terminal engine damage done.

Fingers crossed, hope it doesn't cost ya too much.

Yeah - either relay or regulator related. Need to get fixed else you're just running on your battery, and not recharging it. Well....that's what it sounds like to me.

Squiz......

It could be battery, regulator or generator which produces the red "light on" indicator.

You need to know which it is (yes - I know you've already got it at the workshop, but for future reference) - this little series of tests will help you narrow it down.

Its probably your generator. Thats happened to mine ooh... a few times (ive had lots of probs with generators)... best to get it 1)fixed or 2) A new generator, because its not very reliable going around on the sheer will of your battery like i found out i had been doing yesterday!!!:(

I also found out yesterday that the little red light to tell me my generator is stuffed isnt working.... :cussing

I have never seen a "green Light", I always just assumed that the red light was oil pressure, maybe my green light doesnt work or its been put in the red light hole? Although I do check my oil regularly I would still like an oil pressure light. I had best check that out soon. :o

Just had a look at my 1200 workshop manual and it appears that the green light is the gen. light and red is oil pressure.

Either the manual has things back-to-front or dad had the wires arse-about.

Rob, which is it?

she's saved

good news just picked up the car from the mechanic the problem was due to the tappers not being adjusted properly and the car was running too lean and they eventually stayed closed wich cause that she wasn't getting any fuel....just new new tyres at the front ,semaphore fixed and new brake bulb and she'll be ready for rwc and rego....can't wait to go for a cruise.:)
