Beach Trip is always the 1st weekend in January that is not New Years. That would make it the 3rd / 4th January 2009.

As has been the case on many of these trips over the years and hell at times it has been pretty amusing we all could have prevented or carried that extra bit of gear , so below i have made up quite a basic list of what i take with me and do before leaving home .
Not knowing every inch of everbodys cars , if you have that weird and wacky part that you know is suseptable to breaking in your ride then please bring a spare one as you can bet we won't be able to find a replacement when its needed most . A classic example of this is the fan belt , with the ever wideneing range of different size bottom pulleys , don't expect that someone elses belt will fit because more than likely it won't and the good old dak dak or anything else for that matter won't get far with out one .
Overall car
Have a good look over the hole car and tighten fix etc anything that doesn't look as it should ,as trust me murphys law will soon catch up to you if you don't !!!

Aircleaners
As we all know what sand does when it ends up inside your motor , please ensure that you have a suitable aircleaner / element for the job .
Now if your still unsure as to whether it is good enough a trip down to the local supermarket is in order for some stockings which once you cut the feet off make a great outer element for your aircleaner depnding of coarse on your aircleaner style and shape .
Another great outer filter protector i found a few years ago which i used to use on my Towdster is Pool filter socks which come in a handy pack of 5 or so and to top it off they just go straight on , no cuting or modifying reqired .

Spares ETC
As has been mentioned in a few other threads of late , it would be nice for a change if everybody brought there own spares !!!!
Now as a buggy owner and dude that has been to the cape in such i realise that there will always be something that you forget etc but if we could all carry the following minimum it would be much appreciated by all.
To keep costs down most of these items only need to be a secondhand item , Just as long as they are ok .
Where am i going to put all this gear in something not much bigger than bath tub you ask , well most of us well travelled buggy owners utilise the space under the front seats in a suitable water tight container , may i suggest a tupperware container or similar .

CLUTCH CABLE
THROTTLE CABLE
FAN BELT
SELECTION OF ZIP TIES
ELEC TAPE
3 METRES OF TIE WIRE
1LONG , 1 SHORT , AND 1 COIL LEAD
1 SET OF POINTS
1 CONDENSOR
1LTR OIL
ASSSORTED FUSES TO SUIT YOUR CAR
SMALL BOTTLE BRAKE FLUID
ASSORTMENT OF 6MM , 8MM ,10MM NUTS , BOLTS AND WASHERS
SPARE WHEEL ( IF YOU HAVE A MOUNTING POINT )
ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP

Tools
Now you have all those lovely spares , you best have something to fit them with hey !!!
Not knowing what each of you have in the way of tools , just bring what you think you need and after afew trips you will soon work out what you'll never use or need to bring , and of coarse the spare space under the other seat is a great spot for the tools , again preferbly in a watertight container if you don't want them all looking like rusty boat anchors .

Recovery gear
1off QUALITY SNATCH STRAP
2off SHACKLES TO SUIT SAID SNATCH STRAP

With all that said and done now all we need is some sunshine and a great weekend will be had by all .
See you all there

Andrew
