Modded transmissions? What is there and what would you like?
G'day,
I've been searching for a bit of info but have been coming up blank. mostly because I don't know what I am looking for.
I have an old and rusty memory that a five or six speed transmission can be built if it is changed to a crash box so there is enough space for the
extra gear(s)
What other sorts of mods are there out there?
No i don't have a fat wad of cash to throw at a custom transmission. Just satisfying some curiosity.
For example, is it possible to have a dual range / overdrive installed?
The reason I am asking is just the result of an idle train of thought.
My ultimate transmission for my van would have a crawler gear and an overdrive, and an LSD of course. Couldn't care less about having synchro.
I love the pulling power of the 1600 box mated to the 1800 type4 on my van, but I run out of cogs by 60km/h and by 100km/h the motor is getting
close-ish to its rev limits.
What sorts of things would you like in a transmission? Practical, feasible or completely off the wall and near impossible!
I want to hear what others would like to have.

If I could have a Falcon/Territory ZF six cogger in a VW I'd be a happy feller... and I usually hate autos

Must be better than the ones in the ZL. Terrible transmission.
