A very nice looking bug. There was nothing wrong with the 36hp motors except that they lacked a little power, but driven appropriately they were a nice little bug.I found a picture of an early twin carb set up which I will post as soon as I work out the procedure. Just imagine how the kombi people went when they filled the vans fitted with these 36hp motors with kids, camping gear etc, then set off at Christmas or Easter to go to the gold coast for a holiday. Some made it and a lot made it to O'Sullivans Gap at Buladelah, quite a few of these we towed into the Taree VW dealership, pulled the motors for repair and then they would camp out the back of the workshop (it was often 6 or 8 vans camping)until the engine was rebuilt.
