Kombi's rolling over!
Went on hols up the northern coast of WA in my beloved kombi and was going round a corner when the back tyre blew out and the kombi decided to
roll over in the middle of nowhere Anyways since then everytime I mention the accident everyone goes on about how notorious Kombi's are for rolling over hmmmm Being an avid VW fan for a long time now I'm surprised I've never
heard of this until after the accident
Tim
PS Kombi had to be scrapped so am selling the WA license plates VDUBLU. If you interested pls email me esqueeze1@yahoo.com.au or call me on 0432857700
with offers. Cheers.

Already sold it, I was in the middle of nowhere. Only things left are the VW badge from the front and the NO plate VDUBLU.

Hi
Very sad to see, the more VWs that leave the roads the less there will be in the future.
I think many vans besides VW would roll over in that situation.
I saw an L300 roll over going down a small hill in suburban Sydney when it braked and changed direction and he didn't hit anything to make it
roll.

That's repairable. I've seen my uncle revive worse than this. Whole drivers side and new roof on a dual cab that had rolled onto it's side then hit
a tree.

I have seen a '71 kombi on it's side. Was a slow corner, but inside tyre clipped a curb and sent it over.
Only other one I've seen personally.

Don't bag swing-axles please! VWs don't roll over by themselves, people cause them to do that.
Cheers, Greg

think of the positive side, time for a chopped roof and a decent paint job to match your new roof line

Personally, I think that old VWs have bad rep was because there was more of them around.
It could happen to any other car given the right circumstances.
It even happened to James bond's Aston Martin!! not many people complains about that
Anyway Sorry for the bus... but it doesn't look too bad for a roll over

OK, it's been a while. Sadly I had a nasty lasceration to my arm in the crash so I wasn't in much of a mood to rebuild Otto at the time, the
rollover was about 1000KM from our home in Perth. Sold it to a Classic VDub specialist in Geraldton so hopefully it lived on in some way even if it
was the excellent mechanicals breathing life into another Kombi.
I was passenger, my GF was driving and she was impressed that I was so nice about her destroying my pride and joy. I couldn't really blame her, I
might have stood a chance of getting it back once the back end went but seriously; with a blowout n/s rear, on a tight bend, on an unsealed road in a
long vehicle with all of the weight over the back wheel, she really didn't stand a chance. I went on to marry my girlfriend, who is expecting our 1st
child any day now. The whole thing brought us closer and sealed our fate really.
Bong water was spilled everywhere, but I did manage to save some of my beer.
Now I have a 2004 Golf 2.0 FSI that I luv 2 bits despite the handbrake being in the wrong place and the slightly underplayed 110KW (but hey it's not
a GTI and def not an R32). It's been across the Nullarbor to Adelaide, it's missed a service and sucked it up like a true VDub, it handles and
brakes like it's stuck to the road with superglue. Friggin awesome.
Still have the plates if anyone is interested make me an offer.
