there were two of those at Valla -Nambucca heads a few years ago..
they looked good...
notice the alarm key switch.. there is another horn in the engine bay.... thats the alarm... lol
LHD and cannot be registered in Australia or US..
some made it to the UK... maybe using original chassis??
they were sold in the Philippines... rusted very badly...
fellow in the uK had one... went to replace the guards with thick German ones and the holes didn't line up on the front guards... He had to redrill
or slot them...

the last beetle was made in the EMDEN factory and was a 1200 model beetle with swing rear axles etc..
& cross ply tyres??
it was still a big seller in Germany...
I liked the beetle there with pop out windows and black door handles..
and tyre spray hasn't reached Germany yet.. lol...
tyre tread looked like the old Michelins..
maybe Mexican tyres were alergic to tyre sprays... lol

Is that an indicator on the side of the 03 one just behind the front guard? If so I might look at doin something like that with mine but use a new
Beetle indicator.

thats the on off key for the factory alarm system on mexi bugs
side repeaters on a bug look good if your going for the german/eurolook
have a look in the germanlook gallery once its up and running agian theres a few with that mod
notice next to the silver 85 bug is one of those mutant mex bugs with the small early windows but late everything else. thats why the fresh air
bannana vent looks funny on it

I was looking at ebay yesterday and spotted this 2004 model, quite interesting to see all the differences from the cars we had here:

Be a strange sensation driving a beam bug where everything is all still new and tight
there not that much different considering its nearly 30 years newer that our last ones
apart from digifant EFI that made less power than stock solex 34pict3

nearly identical to the 1976 beetle sold in Australia..
without the fuel injection...
I like the speedo/fuel gauge
I'm wondering where the RHD came from???
As far as I know, they were all Left Hand Drive beetles..
made in Mexico...
That is a key switch [that I used on My 71 beetle and type 3 variant] that switches on the alarm...
there is also a switch in the engine compartment
plus a VW horn in the engine bay....
Now that would scare the pants off someone.... lol
I was told that Mexican bugs were sold in the phillipines
and a used one a few years old were worthless compared to an old german made Beetle... they rusted badly..
