No Trying to be nasty, But there is NO way you`d get a decent body for $1000, not even close.... more like a rust bucket non runner for 3-4 ... fairly
straight maybe running for 7-10 and anything without rust, anything over 12..
My 2 cents.

There are SC's around but they tend to be snapped up rather quickly ...... as are DC's.
Paying $1-2 k gets you a project ....... usually with a lot of work to do in the bottom 3 inches of the vehicle (let alone gates) or the engine is
tired and needs a rebuild.
What you usually get is a tired 35 yo workhorse.
If you pay $4-5 k there are still some issues but less work.
$7-8 k gets you even less issues but you still have some work to do. Could be panel or some engine work.
Over $10 k gets something with a RWC and a few minor issues but still some issues you will have to deal with.
Beware of this one on ebay at the moment .... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170300555677
It has changed hands three times already this year and has been flipped for $1500, $4305 .......and is on for $9800 at the moment.
Like any vehicle what you pay for is what you get but it is a good idea to have someone experienced to have a look at any rust issues or whether you
are up for a engine rebuild straight away.
Best of luck with the search for the SC that's right for you!
Cheers

thanks for that info
my dad is a qualified mechanic and my uncle is a panel beater and both of them have alot of knowledge in each others areas of work being involved in a
top fuel drag team and having completed a large number of projects over the years
as long as the SC can be saved im not to worried about the condition it is in
we have all the facilitys we need to make panels or even new gates if we have to
and it is going to be done over about 5-6 years with alot of work into it
anyway thanks for that info mate
cheers |
