Reversing Lights?
My 1969 1500 beetle does not have reversing lights fitted - but the owner's manual/handbook that came with it, the workshop manual, and the Bug-Me
DVD on wiring, all make reference to the reversing lights? My car was one of those imported from Germany - should it have reversing lights? Just
wondering if maybe someone has fitted earlier taillights at some stage - though the existing wiring loom does not appear to have the wires for
reversing lights.
Hope this makes sense.

Not all had them fitted. Do you have the white/clear section at the bottom of you taillights? Ours was the same so we ran the extra wiring needed
and bought the taillights to suit and fitted them and now everything works well.

Nice find a great looking beetle. Our 68 was a similar colour until we repainted it dark blue.
Since the car was first registered without reversing lights, I would think it should be OK now for rego. We changed ours simply because it is safer
for people to be able to see if you are going to reverse in to or out of a car park etc. It wasn't a big job to do. Just hook up the wiring to the
reversing switch on the gearbox (we had to buy one) and then in to the taillights (we also had to buy these). The switch is on the drivers side of
the gearbox and runs through the firewall and one wire goes to the left light and the other to the right light. You need to put an in line fuse in
there as well before you split the wires.
