changing generator to alternator

Just about to change the Generator for An Alternator has anyone done this.

Had a look at the scrap yard today and found most alternators to be to large in diameter.im sure ive only got around 4 1/5 inch of room.
Looking for around an 80 Amp.

Questions:
From what car did u take it.
What size amp was it.
Wheres the best place to get one that will fit.

cheers ..

Hey how it going?

I've recently done it with an alternator from a daihatsu charade.
I think only 45 or 50 amps but that's all I needed.
It's nice and compact and has inbuilt regulator.

Cheers! T :tu:
