i suggest that you find your local VW shop and ask if you can watch them for a day ( without getting in there way )
do you have any mechanical knowledge ???

Yes I have tried but they are hesitant to allow outsiders in for various reasons. OHS, busy, hinderiance factor etc....Which I huess is fair
enough!
Oh well have to buy a shitter to practice on I guess

As a workshop owner i can understand the potential for disaster, even though you have good intentions it is very hard to work around someone in your
workshop. (even apprentices get stepped on or are pain in the proverbial when you are busy and trying to think and work to a schedule) i would suggest
one of the night tech courses in motor vehicle maintenance. Purchase the Idiot manual which I believe is one of the easiest to follow books that I
have seen and if you are not sure don't be afraid to ask! Cheers Les
