ANOTHER CB SURFACES- KO 0150

KO 150 has been located and purchased from a farm property in outback NSW and is now residing in the Mallee,Victoria.
This is a good original vehicle with the original F125 series motor and original exhausts. Motor turn and has some compression. It has not been started yet. There is some surface rust but its a very dry vehicle.
The fibreglass canopy is really interesting. Its similar to the metal half cabins but is molded to fit the vehicle well. Windows in the half cabin were/are perspex.
It has taken a hit on the front near side which is not visible in the photos but it is a relatively easy repair.
This was a really good priced purchase and goes to show they still exist.
KO0150 was the next vehicle off the production line following my former CB ( KO0149) so I have plenty of numbers and things to make comparisons.

Looks like a pretty nice example and not a difficult resto candidate.
The cab enclosure is really nice looking......I'd sure like to see more detailed angles and shots of that work of art.
Bill, when you say "This was a really good priced purchase", can you be a little more specific?
As always, I'm just trying to get a handle on market values.
I'm still blown away by the purchase price of KO 587.....1,500 AUD!!!
:spin:

Steve

Snorkel,

I dont know the actual purchase price to the $ of KO0150 but I do know it was purchased well ( read very well) under what I would call market value.
If I was asked to estimate I would suggest the number was less than A$1000 or US$663.
Now that makes it a real steal and a bonus for the purchaser who spent almost as much on petrol going to pick the car up as the car itself cost.

Yea sure is Steve, such a shame

But its like numerous old vintage Vw tin i know of sitting around doing nothing. 56 Oval in my own street, sitting in a yard for 15years, grass all around it, under a tarp sweating and rusting to pieces. Claims he will restore along with the 12 other cars he has in his yard.

55 Ragtop, sitting outside under a fallen down carport. Claims to restore one day along with a karmann ghia, bedford bus etc etc.

65 Splitty, sitting in a carport for 25 years. Doesn't care about it. Not for sale,

56 Splitty, sitting in a paddock along with three other splits, quote: 'prefer to see them rust than restore.'

57 spllitty, no plans to do anything.... not for sale

Why do these people let things sit around crumbling when there are countless people waiting to restore these things? CB is worth $1000 at the most, all the hard to find bits are gone..... Just a body (Rusty and modified and a KO number...

My rants over

Cheers Bill

You have to understand some of these people have a dream to restore them one day just like you or I.
It could be next week they start could be in 10 years time. Often they just don't know how to care for the car while it sits waiting and they just don't see how bad the car gets over time.
Some are also turned off by people coming in asking if they want to sell, they know some time these people just turn around and resell for a quick buck.
I just picked up 4 cars that where not for sale and the owner wanted to restore them, he past away before he could start his dream of restoring them a week before he was to retire. The family had my number and called me to ask if I would like them. They thought it would be good to see them being used and not sold for scrap.

Nathan has hit it on the head. Peoples circumstances change and the resulting outcomes are usually a long way away from the prior position.
Another good example is a guy in Victoria I know of who has over 70 vehicles on his property all sitting out in the sun. The VW contingent is made up of a Country Buggy, 4 Splitties, a nice low light single cab and a couple of Beetles. His answer to everything is- Keeping them for a future resto and while they are here "they dont eat much". The vehicles will never move until the guy falls of the perch and unless someone is close at hand they will be moved out to a scrapper.
Flashing folding stuff and heaps of it will not change this guys mind.
