My car's Phat, or should that be Fat
So I went to the dump today, and I asked how much my car weighed on the weighbridge. If I subtract my weight I get;
1140kg!!!
That's my car with about 1/4 of a tank of fuel. Pretty heavy huh? I guess it needs the V6 to move it around

Jeez, and I thought mine was heavy at 910kg. You might be 35hp up on me but you can keep it if you're dragging an extra 200kg or so.

Well a stock 68 is about 840kg. So I have an extra 300kg from somewhere. I have;
* 2 inch body lift
* type 2 091 trans
* V6
* radiator and cooling system
* climate control air con with automated flaps and all sorts of things
* lots of bar work at the rear to make a support cradle for the engine
* very heavy wheels and tyres
* a tool kit under the front
* heavier jap seats
* very heavy sound system with subwoofer box, amp, etc
I guess it all adds up. Anyway, it adds up to the performance figures I measured ages ago. I had no air con, toolkit or subwoofer in it when it did
0-100kph in 6.3s on the G-tech. When I put my dyno curve into my ExcelDyno program I found I needed it to weigh 1150kg with driver to do that time. So
I guess I always suspected it was that weight.

Yours is a lot faster than mine Jak. Mine would only be good for a mid 14 down the quarter. Baja's are heaps slower than L bugs though. At one stage
I owned an L bug with a very mild 1776 with twin kadrons. In my Baja I had a far more modified 1916 with twin 44IDF webers, high ratio rockers, bigger
cam, 044 heads etc and the L bug was just as quick as my Baja. Faster over 100kph.

Don't worry Wes, my kombi weight's in just under 1.9T with me in it, so that's close to 600kg above stock.
That's with the water tank and extra fuel tank empty (they hold 45L each).
Add the family and supplies and we quickly reach the GVM. All that with stock motor, so an optomistic 70hp.
The best dump trip I have done pulling a Tandem trailer was over 3T on the way in.

If I don't get into mine, then it is quiet. Actually my gearbox is noisier than the engine on the highway, and it's in good condition. It certainly
is comfortable too. I didn't go for out-right speed, otherwise I would have went for the EJ20T because it's easier to get more power from it.
I have wondered whether I need a 12" subwoofer or not though, because it certainly is heavy. If I went to the drags I'd pull the extra stuff out,
but around town all the optional extras are nice to have.

yeah, my trans mounts are the thing that has caused all the extra noise of late. but I wouldn't swap a quieter car for the way the chassis works now.
now way. it's actually puts the power down instead of flexing all over the place.

My mounts are fine. I just get a funny diff whine harmonic in the 90-110kph range using light throttle openings. Unfortunately that corresponds
directly with cruising on the highway. Using more throttle / going faster makes it go away.

I often hear whining in the inside of the car too...and my gearbox does it also
but yes, I know what you mean. I thought it was the albins 4th, but my stock 002 box did it too.

I thought it was my albins 4th too, but I get it in 3rd at the same speeds (although a little more difficult to hear with the higher engine rpm)

Hi wes, is the gear box solid mounted? mine is, and it growles in 5th, 6th because of where the mount is located on the intermediate housing.
Maybe, its the r&pinion

No, not solid mounted. It's vibration free. Yeah, probably the R&P getting old and cranky
