engine number


Hi, can anyone help.
Trying to find out where engine has come from in Allans car, vic roads giving me a hard time.
The engine no. starts with an AS I can't find much info only that it might be a replacement case or from a super bug does that seem right, and what year would it be.

AS engine numbers
started in 1973 1st august to 31st july 1974
AS000,001 TO AS171,566

1ST AUG 1974 TO 31ST JULY 1975
AS171,567 TO AS269,030

1ST AUG 1975 TO 31ST JULY 1976
AS269,031 TO AS401,299

They were 1600 beetle engines.

That helps, he has a couple of beetles around, I will look to see if thats were he got it from.
The car is a 1967 kombi van, do you think that it will be a problem with Vic Roads having a different engine in it.
