accelerator cable range

Hi everyone,

I've noticed that when the accelerator pedal is all the way down, the throttle levers on the carbs still have some unused range left. Is this how it's supposed to be, or is there something I can adjust to give me more throttle? They're stock solex carbs with a new cable (so I know it's not stretched).

Thanks

Hi

I am guessing that you have a 2L kombi engine ( from sig line )
Anyway you can adjust the cross bar keeper where the cable slides into it, also depending on how much adjustement you are talking you can add a few washers on the ned on your cable keeper before you put the spring on to shorten it up.

Hi

You should also check for crud on the floor under the linkage between the pedal and floor.

haha, yes I've noticed the crud problem. I park on dirt, so I need to sweep out the crud/stones/sticks that get carried in on my boots daily. Even with the space under the pedal linkage cleared, there's a lot of travel left in the trottle linkages with the pedal all the way down. I'll have a look at the keeper to see what I dan do with that.

I thought ya had to adjust ya cable at full throttle - carbs fully open and pedal all the way down.

Or is that only for beetles?
