Jake Raby burnout video

Hi

Below is a link to a Jake Raby burnout video, they are using a wheel chock to hold the car in place, interesting.

Yep I saw that today - cooked the "ashpalt" until it broke up in bits! It helps to be an engine builder after you hammer your engine that hard for that long!

Would have gone for twice as long if he had used a Type 1 motor with a Progressive Weber :D

Hey with a burnout , do vw's have the same problems with cooling as water cooled cars? As or cooling is only related to engine speend, eg, more rpm, more air, while water cooled cars have to have air flowing through the front. does this mean the vw can do burnouts without overheating?

i dont think burnouts make that much load on the engine, plus when the engine is at that speed the fan is spinning pretty damn fast.

A properly setup cooling system is sufficient to cool a stock engine going up a hill.

You obviously haven't done many burnouts before.

An aircooled car will get hot doing a burnout just the same as a water cooled one. Try using full throttle and high RPM in a high HP motor and you will find it heats up, car moving or not.

PS - I've seen Jeff Unwin do better in his old hellbug with no wheel chocks. Oh, and I hate *wmv files.

i had a quick read about this video on STF and Jake mentions its bouncing of the limiter at 7~8k...my ass!! give me some chocks and a puddle and I'll pop the rear tyres on my wifes stock 71. Guess you have to generate a lot of hype to sell those 6k + ($us) motors

I put the front bumper of my old supasports buggy (1600 twin port, stock carb, cracked heads) up against a tree and funnily enough I could do a burnout too.

If he actually used oil instead of water then he woulda got more smoke, so maybe he did that.
