VDO Tacho questions

I've just bought a S/H VDO 3" tacho.

It's got no fitting instructions with it.

On the back is this:
5 little switches with each switch numbered from 1-5 with the word, "open" above the 5 numbers.
It also has 4 contacts below, with +, HI, LO and and an 'earth' symbol.
Can anyone help with these clues?
Regards,

For a 4 cylinder VW, the number two switch on the back should be down, all others, up.
+ to 12 volt positive terminal controlled by ignition switch

HI To negative terminal of ignition coil

LO not utilised

last terminal to negative (earth)

Hope this is what you need.
