Adapter plate fixings
Hi Guys
Well i an currently fitting an EJ22 into my splitty
When fitting the adapter plate to engine the bottom 2 fixings are proud and will not fit to the gearbox housing
So is it best to counter sink the bolts in the adapter plate,if so were do i find these bolts (10mm x1.25 pitch)with the counter sunk heads they dont
have any in Darwin
Or is there another way to do this
Gearbox is a T1 IRS
All input would be welcome

From what I have found out countersunk M10x1.25 bolts are not available in Australia. My Sherman kit came with countersunk BSF bolts but I found the
fit was crap and threw them away. What I have seen done is to clearance a groove throught the engine mounts where the bolt heads foul.

I find it hard to believe that in an entire nation that is supposedly metrificated you don't have an outlet that can supply flat-head socket bolts.

The problem is finding them countersunk so they can be flushed in to the adapter plate.
I looked all over the place in the UK but ended up getting a small batch made up, I quickly sold them all the others to other converters...

Proplem being it needs to be counter sunk with a fine metric thread 10 x 1.25
Not the standard 10x1.5
Think im going to go over size and get it machined and rethreaded

I cut a bit of rubber out of my banana gear box mounts and then it fitted good .

No issue really on buses, but it helps a lot on bugs when you move the trans forwards, then you come up against the trans cradle, not the rubber

Well mine is defo hitting the gearbox housing.
Im not to inclined to make clearance in the housing.
I wish it was as simple as cutting the banana rubber to get the required clearance
Will keep informed of out come as its on the jobs todo today list

I just have a IRS box and one of those heavy duty gear box mounts that goes around the bell housing it looks like the stock one. or are you using the
big thick L bug mounts???? and cradle??

Well all is well in Adapter plate land
Ended up using Bolts with smaller heads the ones that hold down the cast bracket for the Alternator and compressor
Then cut off the bolt lip so its 14 mm head misses the housing now just have to cut the rubber mount
Thanks guys got me thinking about the problem from a different angle
