My kombi's broken nose (pics)

Last night, at about 4am, someone crashed a stolen car through the front yard and into my kombi and my housemate's hilux. They did a runner. The kombi has a very twisted bullbar, a bent bumper and a dented front panel (old bog has come out), the hilux hasn't got a scratch, and the stolen car is a write-off with the front end twisted and bent.

The first pic is looking from the direction the car came, I was standing between the skidmarks when I took it. The car was sliding sideways facing LEFT as it went across the grass, it's front driverside corner hit the tree, it span around and the rear driverside door hit the kombi (the kombi was pushed backwards nearly 1 metre), it continued spinning and ended up where you see it facing right, against the hilux's bullbar. Oh yeah, and the letterbox was knocked over.

Looking directly face-on you can see how much the bullbar is pushed sideways, with it's uprights all twisted (the uprights have also bent/dented the bumper):

The bullbar and spare tyre have put some large wide dents in the front panel:

To see they stole a car is bad enough, but to damage other people's property, and VWs at that! is just mind boggling, when are the authoritys going to get serious, and start making these SCUM start working to pay for the damage they cause! removing old land mines in third world country's would be the best job for them, and it would have the added benefit of sooner or later getting rid of them!
I hope they catch the perportrators, and royaly flog them! did the cops have any idea who they were.
I hope you get some form of compensation.

It is sad to see this happen. Is that kind of damage easy to repair on your kombi? Will a panel shop want to put a new skinon it or straighten it out?

That's bad:(

Crazy person

Don't understand people who go out, steal cars and damage other peoples property, run off:jesus How do they live with themselves after? Is it kids who don't think of the consequences or joyriding?

They not only damaged your kombi and letter box but written off someone elses car:mad:

Thanks for all the replies!

I was on my way to the smash repairer this morning when I got pulled over at one of those random vehicle inspections. I was thinking "oh shit just my luck to get inspected while it's busted up". I told them the story about the stolen car and they let me off because they could see the damage was very recent and I had the police and insurance details with me.

What surprised me though was that they didn't mention anything about the spare tyre being mounted in front of the bullbar. I know it's illegal, but I guess everyone just gets used to seeing spare tyres mounted that way on kombis - it's like there's an unwritten exemption for us!

I've got NRMA fully-comprehensive insurance, my no-claims bonus won't be affected, I'll have to pay the excess but the licensed smash repairer will do the work for me. They said it would be way too expensive to put a new nose panel in so they'll fill it as best they can and fit a new bullbar and bumper.
