Its amazing to see 4 ( yes 4) Country Buggies for sale on Ebay at the same time.

All very different vehicles ,in various stages of condition which will be reflected in the pricing

Its only a few years ago that people reckoned there wernt FOUR Country Buggies surviving anywhere in Australia.

Records were made to be broken.

The Grenfell Giant...... Must be the buy of the decade or he has added an extra zero by mistake.

Five CBs at once- does anyone else have one they would like to make it an even half dozen.

I dont know much about this one either.

Yeah, there's five alright!
Amazing!
June must official eBay CB sale month in Oz.

1. The "shooting buggy"....currently being discussed in another thread.
2. The former ponybeetle CB......again being listed by the seller with multiple eBay identities. It's now back to 3,000AUD starting bid.
3. KO561 ........which has also been discussed before, now in restoration and looking better than it did.
4. A claimed low mileage CB with a host of negatives. The seller must be toking the best pot ever grown in Australia, or spent several days in a local pub before listing the vehicle.
Asking $18,000 USD.....22,177.89 AUD!!! Even though the exchange rate is up to 81 cents, the seller is on a real fishing expedition to dreamland.
5. Greg Cash's CB.....by far the best and nicest of this group of CBs.

Without a doubt, an entertaining event. Every week there seems to be another rolled out of a shed or the bush.

Regards,
Steve

Steve,
You are correct. June 1st is the start of our official winter so people are looking to offload their Country Buggies as they are way too cold to drive around particularly if you dont have a soft top and side curtains.
Our winter are not as bad as your ( thank god) but it must be the thing to bring out the sellers.
Maybe I should try and work out an air conditioning setup for the CB, would make a fortune as would only need to get the heating right. Cooling is by dropping the windscreen down.

Bill,
Well, whether the seller is smoking "good" or "bad" shit, his value perception is definitely skewed.

You would think some of them might hold off for a bit as theirs sound expensive compared to mine. Just comparing condition and costs to restore in general against already restored price. volma1

I think Greg is right in not revealing his reserve.

The purpose of a reserve is to find how strong or weak the market is for whatever you have to sell. It is also used as a tool to preserve the value, even the seller's perceived value, of the item.
One starts the auction at a reasonable price level to see what the market's interest and strength is in the sale item.
Revealing the reserve destroys the purpose of the auction, which is to see if the market can meet or exceed the seller's minimum expectations.

I will say, from memory, I believe the Samba ad he ran for a while had a listed price of 12,000AUD. While I'm not suggesting his reserve is now that figure, it has to be between the current $7,500 AUD bid and the Samba ad figure.
At 7,500AUD (6,015USD) I consider it a very, very good buy for an Aussie buyer.
Greg's CB is one of the nicest, running, CBs I have seen from afar. If I were guessing, I'd say the reserve is somewhere in the 10,000AUD range (8,049 USD). I would say that is still a very reasonable asking price. We have a CB here in the US currently for sale for $8430USD (10,474AUD) which is nowhere near the fine example Greg has for sale.

Thanks Steve for your kind input, I believe my price on The Samba finished around US10k as I started it at US14k and dropped it as the Aussie dollar dropped reflecting the price I was after. again thanks, Greg

Greg,
Unfortunately, I see your CB never got to the reserve and the auction ended at 9,600 AUD or 7,694 USD at today's .8014 exchange rate.
Are you going to list it again soon, or are you going to give it a rest or seek other outlets?
Hope you can score a buyer.
You've got one nice CB.

Regards,
Steve
