suspension tunning
My son has got into VW's so we now have 2 L-Bugs with 2180 cc engines, and he has challenged me at the next Super Sprint meet. I now need to have my
bugs suspension set up...I need all the advantages I can get! Can anyone recommend someone in Sydney?

I remember this car from a magazine quite a few years back, I thought that it had all the good stuff already on it. Depending on your budget, u can't
go past a big front sway bar with adjustable camber, 4 wheel alignment & some decent rubber. U would be surprised how well superbugs handle in
standard form, letalone lowered like yours with big rubber.
have u had it on the track? What is it like to drive as it is.?

jak, i've been meaning to ask what front swaybar you run?
i had a whiteline with my old 2bolt front end that was so-so but havent decided on one for my 3 bolter yet, just trying to get some opinions on whats
out there

I met you many years ago, I worked at the VW dealer at Hurstville and later on at Powertune.

Thanks guys for the interest, Yes the car has one of the first sets of adjustable struts that Richard made when he was at Vintage, It also has front
and rear sway bars, adjustable front strut brace and is lowered. My issue is its all works well but its never been probably set up so I don't know
just how much better it could be. I really am after someone that can tune it all together.
Jak, the car is great to drive, a bit noisy, you can forget a stereo, but the low end torque will blow any WRX away until you get to around 100-120
as the gearing was set up for low end torque, but by then there too embarrassed and I've already backed off for fear of drawing attention.
I also have a 61 ghia sitting awaiting attention and my sons new 73 L-Bug just blows me away with how smooth and quite it is to drive. All the
details he got from the previous owner shows that Powertune, Vintage and Ben Dury have all been involved in its built....so the challenge now is to go
head to head on the track.

Alan, I don't think that u need anything at all. Just get it on the track & drive it. U won't be able to tell what it does on the street, the
track is the only place u find weak links so to speak, understeer, oversteer etc.
Just get yourself a proper 4 wheel alignment & enjoy it.
Make sure that your front swaybar is one of the late variety that Boris sells, I got one off him a couple of years back, much thicker than the
standard Whiteline where it bolts into the lower control arm, it also has shims so that u can adjust the caster. 3.3d caster I have found to be the
fine line between daily driver & track car. I think Rudy runs even more than that from memory.
CT & I are going out with Rudy to Oran Park at the end of July, plenty of time for to get sorted & join us.

sounds like youve got a good package there take it to the track and have a run to see what its like first then you can decide what you need next,
first time out it will seem unreal just drive it and get used to the track you will have a ball cheers Rudi

I have been told that to run at Wakefield you can get a special CAMS Wakefield only license on t6he day, but to do other tracks you need a full CAMS
license is that correct and what would is involved...
At least if I do the Wakefield events I can say that I passed CT...as from what I read he's always pulled over doing repairs! Hi CT

Just get the L2S cams licence for $90 or however much it is these days, then u can run at any track, Eastern Creek is the best! I havn't heard of the
Wakefiled Park only license.

With your setup your should be able to corner weithg the car, this can really make a car more competive and less dramatic to drive.
Wakefield do have a special "Wakefield only license"
SPEED OFF THE STREET DAYS
Drive your own street car $110.00 per weekday and $140.00 per weekend day
