Mate with the coppers around port I wouldnt givem the chance. AFAIK they are illegal lots run em but they are seen as a danger to pedestrians ( like
headlight eyebrows) and I think In NSW if the car doesnt have its bumper on then its not legal?. Mitchell

Mitchell,
I am also in Port Macquarie - in 'The Jib' at Clifton. I have the 'Hotondo Homes' franchise in Port Macquarie, and have a 75L bug with Hotondo
Homes signage on it. Our office is at 174 Lake Rd, drop in and say G'day.
What VW are you running? Here is a photo of mine.

Not Quite so, Dylan.
However, I did mention them both in the same post. Mitchell (waltermitty) has kombies and Howie has the farm.
Here is a pic of Mitchell's latest project. It's a fleetliner, they were assembled in South Africa from Brazillian CKD kits in the 1970's, yes the
70's!!! Brazil (and by default, South Africa) were still making splitties when the rest of the world had been making bays for years.
It's a 15 window and he has removed the hippy decorations since that pic was taken. Notice the front VW emblem is not a badge but is actually
embossed into the nose panel.
And Mitch, do drop in and see Jeff, he is the treasurer of Mid North Coast Dub Club and his daughter Trish (who works with him) is our club
president.
Regards,
Matt.

Hey Dylan I followed your old man today I think. I followed him from townies along pacific drive and he turned down to Shelly beach. You said he lives
there is his first name Harry LOL!
Nice bugI see it a bit my daughters usually spot it first they love the fact that they can get me with a punch buggy what color and then with yellow
car spotto with the one car!
Jeff I see you around all the time I recon your sweet little bug has the record for the most towing trailer mailes of any bug in Australia. I will
catch up with you sometime though you dont seem to stand still much and that bug sure goes well, what has she got in her?
And yes my daughters always look out for it as we go past your office in Lake road and punch buggy me. then as we go by reece plumbing they usually
get me with the purple baja there! Then if we see Dylans dad my arms are fair bruised by the time we get home. I live at Shellys also one street back
from knobbies.
Mat yes its 75 that was a one year only exercise by VW to use up spare parts from Brazil Europe and South Africa. I believe they were made 75 and part
76 about 7,000 odd in total. Quite a few unique features such as Barndoor cargo doors, 1600 twinports, pressed emblem ( try stealing that one ) later
dash switches blinker mec and slightly different steering wheel and lots more Being 15 -25 years newer you can be lucky like me and fine one almost
rust free,She is a delight I love her even if I cannot afford to get her on the road ATM I just like having her in my garage.

you only gotta look at them to understand why they're illegal
that said ive run them on my bug a couple of times over the years, never during pinkslips though, but i have been pulled over and bagged with them on
and the cop didnt say anything other than gee this is a tidy old bug

You can run beetles without bumpers...
as New cars don't really have bumpers these days...
and hitting a pedestrian with no bumper is much better for the pedestrian if You have no bumper..
if You have T bars or headlamp eyebrows...
they can do lots of damage to a pedestrian...
Locals have used them for many years ...
but they have gone out of favour...
plus a car cannot have any protusions at the front..
legally...
cheers

i've been running t-bars on my dub since february and drive evrywhere! haven't been pulled over but have been breahtalised and the cops had nothing
to say about them, all he said was "gee i better stick some sunnies on, this bug is bright!" so i hope the colour was a distraction from the t bars!
