Lucky bugger! :)

VW have changed their website - a lot! The cabriolet's page is up too:

http://www.volkswagen.com.au/personal/beetleCab/beetleCab.asp?Car=beetleCab

Asking price is $46k with a manual transmission and $49k with an auto (yes, 3 grand for one more gear and 12.9 s 0-100 km/h).

Pic of our freind Sandy's new '03 vert that was in the Sepparton paper. Her husband Don gave to her for their 25th wedding anniversary.

Can you please please please - I beg you - let them know you can get the 3M clear film to replace the bra? If they don't want to do that, MAKE them read the instructions or read the instructions to them. Bras are catastrophic to paint work when used incorrectly!

The 3m film doesn't cause the paint to discolor or go chalky (unlike a bra will), won't cause scratches (unlike a bra will), doesn't make the bonnet hard to close (unlike a bra will), wont chip your paint around the bonnet's closing area (unlike a bra will) and you can leave it on when it's wet (unlike a bra). ie, it does the job of a bra, without any of the downsides. Plus, you can't see the film until you get very close.

Bras, and black ones in particular, are a fashion crime against the New Beetle of the highest order. Dangerous, expensive (for paint repairs) and worst of all - FUGLY.

I have a bra for my EH showcar. I only use it when certain conditions are met.

It is dry. No rain
I am driving a long distance
It is getting near dusk and the bugs are coming out.

I don't use it for protection against stonechips. They are each a trophy of the highest order. It means you drive the car. This is not to say I tailgate just to get more.

I use it to make my life easier so I don't have to clean the whole front of the car for bugs. (Not VW types)

I have used it about 10 times in 8 years.
