Never heard of it - but I don't listen to music made since 1990.
I can think of two songs that mention VW Kombis.
1. Alice's Restaurant, by Arlo Guthrie (1967). A long rambling spoken story over a guitar riff, but it mentions a VW several times, as in:
"So we took the half a ton of garbage and put it in the back of
a red VW microbus, took shovels and rakes and implements of
destruction and headed on toward the city dump. Well we got there and
there was a big sign and a chain across saying closed on thanksgiving.
We'd never heard of a dump closed on thanksgiving before, and with
tears in our eyes we drove off into the sunset looking for another
place to put the garbage...."
2. Down Under, by Men at Work (1982). From the Business as Usual album. Has the lyrics "Travelling in a fried-out Kombi, on a hippie trail, head
full of zombie."
I once wrote and recorded my own song (in 1987) about visiting Coonabarabran in a Kombi to see Halley's Comet, but I have the only copy of
that...

I have both those songs, Phil. :thumb
Jen, its a pity that link didn't lead to a download site for the mp3's of the songs. I would have liked to add them to my collection, my drive isn't full yet!
