Jezebel Racing at Leyburn sprints
Hi
Was out at the Leyburn Sprints today and saw Dave Sidery holding up the VW end of things at the event.
Well done Dave!! Was driving it hard and giving it plenty. I like that!!
Engine sounding very different (good different) with the new muffler. What muffler did you go with Dave?
Look forward to having a go at this event next year.
cheers
Marcus

OK OK - apologies for slack'ness - been busy with work. Hopefully get the on-board vids up tonite - damn real life getting in the way of
volksy's.
But, to start the bean spilling:
- got 8 runs total, 4 plus a re-run on Saturday and 3 on the Sunday
- best time Saturday was 62.61 on the re-run, and best overall was final run Sunday of 61.77
- Jezzi was great - the layout and surface really suited my setup, and didn't get even slightly off line anywhere. Obviously means I could've gone a
bit harder !!!
So, the new "Muffin" is a bit of a Frankenstein's Monster... took the old steel phat boy I used to run, cut off the outlet and welded on a 2.5" 90
deg bend followed by a baffled tip thingy I carved off one of those "Monza" 4 tip exhausts. Totally un-scientific, but have had it on for 3 events
now and seems to work a treat - the engine definitely likes it better than the old hideaway, and I'm even under the noise limit at Lakeside !!!
Only downside is that everyone comments on how different it sounds... varying from "it's got balls now" to "sounds like a subie"... but since
haven't seen external vids since the change, I've got no idea !!!

Oh - and should say that anyone who likes motorsport even slightly... you'll LOVE the setup out at Leyburn, both as spectator and competitor.
Can't recommend it highly enough !!!

Leyburn
Dave,
Am very envious, I have missed the last two with Herbie and havent ran the new course yet, but am sure you did the Volksies proud.. well done.
With my first born only a week away I didnt think I would have a chance of attending let alone competing - naturally the good wife says I should have
gone (strange how she says that after the event)
Am aiming for Noosa now, Leyburn has the better atmosphere, but heh I wont be picky.
Look forward to some pics.

Peter don't bother unless the Hotmix the track as the surface was that poor my thing turned into a rock thrower and it has large dents underneath the
front guards and the rear flares have worn through the front edges and the inside rears have almost broken through as every time I gave it some
throttle the thing just wheelspun and as soon as you touched the brakes it would lock up all four! I equalled my fastest time and the logging reported
that I only used full throttle for 9% of the run!

Yeah, I heard your guards got pretty peppered Danny - bummer !!!
Have had a look over Jezebel, and although I've got chipped paint on the inner guards, there's nothing a good wash followed by some brush touch-ups
can't fix. Of course my wheels aren't aren't spinning as fast either....
I've grabbed the camera out of the car... one vid up so far of my final run Saturday arvo which is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry1eVqUwOxE

Good run Dave! You could hear the stones peppering all the cars, particularly the little morgan copies.

You Tube
Only just watched the video, great job - I will have to see how yours is mounted as mine is going on the cage inside, but I like that view. The car
certainly went well - mine would be a few seconds slower but I guess that is more track time heh
I looked through some of the other links, that RX7 certainly got along.
Cheers

Yeah, cheers guys - I was really happy with how the weekend went - think I'm startin to get the hang of it all finally !!!
Peter - my cam is mounted on the roof in one of those turned aluminium housing things - the same basic setup as for mounting it onto a helmet, with it
then feeding into a camcorder mounted under the bonnet. Works pretty well, and although I don't mind the view I'm planning on experimenting with
some other mounting locations soon too.
Oh and yeah - Stuart's RX7 is an absolute weapon... helluva lot of TEM been put into it for sure...

Yeah, cheers Daimo - probably all of the above - but importantly the end result is that she's both quicker AND more fun to drive.
Bring on Warwick I reckon !!!

Yeah what a great weekend, did it a few years ago and loved it.
44.82s was my best for that weekend. If you check out ej25tspyder on youtube you will see a video of "how not to take turn 2 at the
