shifter


after the kids were stuffing around with the shifter i went to the car and tried to change gears and now the gear stick just rotates and not select a gear before i rip at it what should i look at

loosen the 2 bolts on the shift plate and move it around untill u get a nice feel in the shifting. it will take some trial and error.

If the stick rotates I would think the pin which engages in the socket of the shift rod had broken or popped out of the stick ball. Take the stick out and have a look.

they must of lifted the gear shifter as per above the pin has been broken or sitting above the gear rod socket

My shifter engages but rotates around as well. At least I know how to fix it. Thanks peeps.

In that case, is it the right shifter for the housing! There are a couple of different lengths and someone in the past may have put the wrong stick in or used the wrong housing.
